Discussion Questions:

1. Proximity Without Perception

Being close to spiritual activity does not automatically produce spiritual understanding or peace when fear arises.
Questions for Discussion:
• What specifically caused the servant’s fear in this moment?
• Why do you think proximity to Elisha did not prevent the servant from panicking?
• Where might fear be shaping how you interpret what God is doing right now?
Application for Life / Connect Group Engagement:
“What situation in your life feels real and threatening right now, not theoretically?”

2. Fear Answered With Truth

- God’s reality extends beyond what our eyes can see, and His power is not limited to visible circumstances.

- Faith is formed when truth is allowed to challenge fear instead of fear interpreting truth.
Questions for Discussion:
• Why do you think Elisha responds with reassurance instead of panic or correction?
• How does fear distort our ability to trust what God has already promised?
• Can you share a time when truth helped you regain peace in a fearful moment?
Application for Life / Connect Group Engagement:
Identify whether current life perspectives are shaped more by fear or by truth.

3. Open Eyes and Identity

- Elisha’s prayer flows from his identity and trust in the covenant-keeping God, not from fear of the situation.

- God often transforms us not by changing our circumstances, but by changing how we see them.
Questions for Discussion:
• Why is it significant that Elisha prays for the servant and not for himself?
• What does this passage teach us about how God responds to prayers for understanding?
• How does knowing who God is reshape how you see yourself and your calling?

Main Passage:

"2 Kings" 6:13-17 (NLT)

13 “Go and find out where he is,” the king commanded, “so I can send troops to seize him.” And the report came back: “Elisha is at Dothan.” 14 So one night the king of Aram sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city. 15 When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha. 16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.
